Each year, hundreds of Canadians travel to America for the NBA All-Star Weekend. With a population of over 38 million, Canada can have more than one NBA team. Many North American basketball fans debate the possibility of having a second NBA team. Until then, the Toronto Raptors remain the only Canadian representation in the NBA.

The Raptors under Ujiri enjoyed a resurgence and reached the playoffs in 2014. This was their first playoff appearance since 2008. They've won five Division titles since then and had their best regular season in 2018. Ujiri was also able to make a risky yet successful trade that sent DeMar DeRozan from the San Antonio Spurs to get Kawhi Leonard.
The Raptors had a phenomenal 2019, winning their first conference crown and making it to NBA finals. They conquered the Golden State Warriors in a total of six games.
Ujiri's tenure with the Raptors has been a resounding success, and he should be credited with changing the team's fortunes. His leadership has made the Raptors one of the most successful teams in the NBA, and they look set to continue to be contenders for many years.
The 2019 championship season is certain to be one of the most memorable in Raptors' history.
Ujiri, and all of the Toronto Raptors should continue to work towards creating a winning culture for their players and staff. This team has a bright future if it continues to be dedicated to excellence. The 2019 championship season has set the bar for Toronto Raptors, and it's up to Ujiri and his team to continue building on this success.
When was the Raptors’ first game?
The Raptors vs. New Jersey Nets was their first regular-season match at the SkyDome. Alvin Robertson scored his first points in franchise history. 33,306 people were there. The Raptors defeated Nets 94-79% with contributions from Damon Stoudamire (with 10 points and 10 assists) as well Robertson (30pts).
Why did NBA leave Vancouver?
NBA left Vancouver because of a dispute with the City Council regarding arena financing. The City of Vancouver was to contribute $40million towards the construction a new basketball venue. This would include 12 luxury suites as well as two restaurants, a bar and a hotel. To pay down existing debt, the City Council wanted the $60 million taxpayer money that the City Council would give to the team owner. This meant the city would have to borrow $200 million to build the arena, while the team owners only had to pay back $20 million in debt. The city would have to pay the remainder of the loan back.
The City Council stated that they would be open to the plan if the NBA agreed not to leave Rogers Arena until the new facility opens. But the league refused to agree, saying the arena wasn't big enough for them anymore. They didn't want to play there anymore because it was too small. They felt asking them to continue playing in a smaller venue was unfair when they weren't getting any extra revenue.
The City Council asked for financial assistance and offered to help the province. While the province provided $150 million for the project, the City Council required another $100 million. That was when the City decided that it would instead concentrate on building an arena downtown.
